Taproot Artist Circle

If you are looking for a community of artists to connect with, and share work with on a deep level, this may be your place.

Taproot Artist Circle is an intentionally small group for  artists and creatives working in a variety of mediums.  You  care about the work having depth and integrity. Whether or not you intend to make a living from your creative work, it is a central part of your life and you are able to commit time, energy and resources to it. You are “all in” and ready to up the ante, to take your work more seriously. 

It is a monthly meeting, on zoom,  in which we share our work with each other in a witness response format. Our goal is to let the work settle in us, really receive it and let it move in us. We give each other feedback based not on what you should do, but rather letting you hear what our experience of the work is. It is not a critique and there is no advice or suggestion. ​

Getting this kind of witness feedback, non- judgmental, open and engaged, is radically powerful.

It is inspiring and motivating. It helps us get clarity on what we are doing and how to talk about it.

It also makes it possible to have a really good relationship with your audience because you understand that the people who connect with your work are seeing it as it relates to them. You can begin to understand that sharing your work publicly is a generosity and it aligns with your deep values.  This makes it so much easier and more fun to put the work out into the world!

What is included?
1. A small intimate community of exciting artists  who are all committed to creating work that is both personally significant and also of professional quality.

2. Witness response- Monthly we will meet to share work with each other and give witness response. This is a central part of the program with  a kind of feedback that gives you a sense of the power and value of your work. It is far more inspiring and empowering than the traditional critique format. Experiencing your work land fully with other people who are letting it soak in and move them, is profoundly important for artists. It is having your communication heard/ received and respected.

3. weekly co-working which meets on Tuesday mornings 9-11 am eastern time. This is open to all my clients and it is a wonderful way to feel the sense of community as you block out time for your creative work.

4. Accountability and comradery- knowing you will be sharing your work with people who are really going to receive it adds a powerful energy to your process.


What Taproot Artist Circle is not:
  • It is not a massive face book or other social media "community" with very little contact with the person who is running it.
  • It is not a place where members are going to try to sell their work to each other
  • It is not a critique group where you will get disempowering or negative feedback
  • It is not a class with an instructor who provides project parameters or authoritative critical feedback

Taproot Artist Circle is for artists and creatives who:
  • Are involved in visual arts, fine crafts, writing, dance, music, etc. All forms are accepted as long as the work can be effectively shared via the internet and can be seen or heard effectively within 10 or 15 minutes
  • Work in an ever-evolving creative process and love growth and depth.
  • Want their work to matter and want to make a positive difference in the world.
  • Have been in your creative world long enough to know some ups and downs.
  • Have a high standard of quality and, while always developing more, you have a solid set of skills in your chosen medium
  • Strive to make work that is honest, vulnerable, moving and authentic
  • Are open to or enjoy guided visualizations
  • Want to get the work out into the world, even if it is unclear how, where or why
  • Want to be a part of a community of artists and creatives who support each other on their journey

Who this is not for:
  • Artists who are in beginning stages of learning their craft
  • Artists who are not interested in the community and personal development
  • Artists who want to give and receive challenging (critical or negative) critique and advice- this is not part of our program

How the group is structured and what is included
  • Membership is limited to 8 participants
  • We meet two Thursdays a month for 2.5 hours 
  • One of those Thursdays the primary focus of the meeting is sharing work with each other in a structured and supportive way. Each artist will share their work every other month. 
  • One of those Thursday is the coaching group where we will engage a topic, work with exercises and have time for individual support
  • Buddy work outside of group meetings possible
Also included
  • 20% discounts on workshops
  • Tuesday morning Taproot community co-working and this is a larger community of artists and creatives who work with me in various ways. You will be welcome to join
Schedule:
 First or third Thursdays from 1-3:30 pm ET (occasional weeks off for holidays)
6 month commitment

for ongoing clients who work with me individually it is $95/ month
for clients who are in this group as a stand alone it is $125/month
includes access to Tuesday morning co-working


How do you sign up?

​If this feels like it could be a great fit for you, I invite you to apply. I am being careful in my selection process so that I can assure that there is a good fit among members. I am looking for diversity in every way possible, as well as a common commitment to a supportive community and depth of creative work. Often people work with me individually for a while before joining the group, but if you would like to dive right in, lets talk!

* the video describes a version of this program that met weekly and included group coaching and co-working in those weekly meetings. This year we will be meeting once monthly as a group, and you will have access to the weekly Tuesday co-working. Individual coaching options are available in addition to the monthly group meeting.
